Canada, Here I Come!

2 years is a long time between trips, but that’s how is been for me. The last time I visited “The Homeland” aka Canada, it was 2 years ago. It’s been long enough to make homesickness a regular occurrence.

That’s all about to change though. Next week I’ll hope on and airplane with my 3 year old son and fly off to colder temperatures and familiar faces.

Some things I’m looking forward to:

1. Reverse culture shock (I’m expecting a lot.

2. Tim Hortons coffee. Although not the best coffee out there it’s as “Canadian” as one can get.

3. Good pizza.

4. Good lasagna.

5. More turkey than I can shake a stick at!

6. Watching my son connect with his family in the Great White North.

7. Much needed rest and relaxation.

8. The snack food section of any supermarket.

9. Buying cooking supplies (herbs and spices).

10. Teaching my son how to play in the snow (something he’s never had the chance to do).

See you in a week Canada!

  1. Take him to see a Sens game! Or, if that’s too pricey, a 67s game!

Pretty sure by the time I’m there, the Sens will be on their Olympic break.

The Rideau probably won’t be thick enough to venture on, but there should be plenty of outdoor rinks to go to.

    • My brother is taking me to a Sens game. After long discussion we decided the trip to Ottawa and sitting through a game would be too much for a very active 3 year old! Might being him out to see a game at a local rink.

  2. I know how you feel.
I haven’t been back home in 2.5 years!
In the 6 years I’ve been in Japan now, I’ve been back home only twice.

This is however the first time I’ll go back in winter. The first Christmas back home in 6 years!!

I’m looking forward to seeing my family and friends, the food and I’ll buy tons of clothes and shoes, because I can’t here in Japan. ^___^

Have a nice and safe trip! 🙂
