Osaka Marathon (Limping to the Finish Line)

I did it! I completed the 2013 edition of Osaka Marathon with virtually no training. That’s definitely not the smartest thing to do and I would definitely advise others against doing something equally as silly.

I have to admit that I had several sleepless nights last week leading up to the race. I knew I was seriously under-trained and just relying on past marathon experience and muscle memory to get me through the day.

The marathon began at 9:00am near Osaka Castle and I crossed the finish line 5:08:15 later. It was officially my slowest marathon (by 25 minutes) and well over an hour off my personal best, but that was expected. I walked a lot and took some amazing footage with my GoPro Hero2 camera.

Next stop…Kobe Marathon on November 17th.
